P.S. I didn't take this picture, and some notable figures are missing from the shot.

Nothing much...

So, I'm here at work and decided to do a blog entry. Mainly cause I'm bored, and also because no one else posts on this one anymore (Heather!). I haven't been posting myself because my computer died and I don't know how to download pictures anymore. Yes, I am very sad about that!

Well, I hope everyone is having fun preparing for Christmas. I haven't even gone Christmas shopping yet. I'm hoping tonight is quiet here at work so that I can get some sleep and then have a productive post-call day tomorrow. Which includes car registration, shopping, picking up yummy cookies from Mom and Dad, and mailing a test registration thing. Good times!

Merry Christmas everyone :o)

love,
Shelley

Haunted House

So, we're starting a haunted house. Everyone is invited!!! I think I can't take any pictures of what it looks like inside, because we're asking others not to, but you are all welcome to come check it out. The website is scaryclownz.com and this is what we're using in the handouts and stuff.
It opens mid-september through November 1st. And basically every spare minute we spend at the warehouse working on this lovely project. So, hopefully it opens!!! Tell everyone you know. Maybe a good young men, young women activity :o)
Anyway, other than that, not much is going on here. We still have our dog (surprising as it may be) and Spencer (the oldest son) just moved out to BYU for the year. I'm still working on trying to make good exercise and nutrition habits (and failing miserably) and working as a pretend doctor. It's so weird to actually have patients of my own!
Hope everyone is doing well (at least all of those who read this . . . Heather and fam). Take care!

Almost...

It's almost time for me to go home from work! 1.5 hours left until report! Kent has physical therapy today and then a doctor's appointment for x-rays later today. As it turns out, he was rear-ended (yes, again) while coming home from work. He was doing physical therapy to help with his last car accident (hit and run people, grrr) when he got a wallop again. Poor kid can't catch a break. So his car is in the shop. The bumper got messed up pretty bad. It was jutting into the exhaust and the car repair people said it was unsafe to drive since it could catch on fire (not good) so I had to pick him up before rushing off to work tonight. Thank goodness it wasn't a more injurious (is that a word...at 5:50 am it is) accident.

Our Little Vacation

First, I'd like to welcome the Bowers family to blogging!!!! So exciting :o)

Our vacation/honeymoon/anniversary/graduation present was a lot of fun! We went to the Atlantis Hotel in Nassau, Bahamas (actually it was on an island called Paradise Island attached to Nassau by a bridge). The plan for the vacation was to have a vacation where we didn't need another vacation to rest from it after we were done. And it worked! Heather loaned me her Twilight series books and I read 2 of them while there as well as 2 mysteries/international intrigue books that James brought.

This place was amazing. It had tons of salt water aquariums throughout with thousands of fish in them inclucing hammerhead sharks and sawtooth sharks. They also had 20 or so waterslides, one of which actually went through the shark tank so you could see sharks swimming over and around you as you went through it. There were multiple pools around the park for just relaxing, and of course the beach. The water there is clearer than bathtub water and the sand was white and fine. Completely gorgeous.

I just realized that I can't get the pictures to go with what I am saying. So, these will be out of order. Anyway, we went on a boat ride out to another island called the Exuma Cays where we went swimming, snorkeling, feeding sharks (our leftover lunch), and then we went to another island where they have indigenous iguanas and we fed them grapes on a stick. Overall a great vacation!

Snow in JUNE?

Impossible you say? Nay. Just a little out of the way.

So we went to Snowbird as a family for a little mountain break. We all need one sometime, and we're not into tenting it for the past 5 years or so. So we took a drive up the canyon and stopped at Snowbird to see about the zip line and alpine slides (the slides open tomorrow by the way). The kids didn't meet the weight and height requirement for the zip line and were very bummed about it, so we took a tram ride to the top of the world. It was there we played in the SNOW! It was nuts to see the skiers still making runs down the nasty, dirty, hashed snow, but to each his own I guess. On our way out of the parking lot we saw a little boy moose. Very cool, especially since we were in our car and I didn't have to be so afraid.

Bowers Stuff

This is mostly a test to see if it works. We now have our ceiling fan up and going. Mom and Dad came today and Dad was up in the attic for a lot of the day. It appeared to be very hot up there. Thank you for installing it for us. We love it.

We saw that Heather has a place for just her family stuff and I assume that Shelley does too. How do you do that so people can read the posts. Or do you just post and it goes in the order it gets posted?

If this works I will also send picture of Kylee's room so you can see the finished touches and when we finish Brittany's I will do the same.

St.George

We went to St. George last weekend with Kent's side of the family. We did a lot of swimming in the hotel pool (it was in the 100's down there) which felt really nice. Our little family did a little hiking too up on the bluff. We saw some wild dog-like/fox-like desert animal, a bunch of lizards, and some really pretty flowers up on the bluffs that I've never seen before. McKinley and I went to Tuacahn and saw the Sound of Music. I thought it was really good. McKinley says she really liked it too, but we're an early to bed family, so the 11:30+ pm play end time was a little wearing on her. So here are some pics of the trip. There will be others on my family blog.

McKinley is officially five years old! Here is her 2nd birthday cake for her extended family party.
This is our family home evening activity earlier this month.
We had to wait for a nice day to finger paint outside.
I'm not patient enough to do it inside.

So I haven't posted for a while. Some of you may not have noticed (since you don't see this anyway), but I have been using all my free time (nap times) trying to finish my latest project. Finally it is done! Here it is. In case you can't spot it, I finished the garage. I textured the ceiling, painted the ceiling and walls. Of course when you undertake this project you have to clean out the garage in the process. No I didn't do the floor yet. That will take more time and money that I don't have yet.

Hot hot hot!

What a nice, warm day it is! So this weekend, we had yet another Art class to attend. McKinley wanted to warm her crown to it, so before I said no, I said why not. Because, well, why not. So Sawyer and I walked around and looked at the flowers. He loved chasing the butterflies. He got close to one once. I took lots of pictures and then made them pose for some. I let McKinley wear her crown, because, why not. So here are some of my favorites.

Yesterday we went to Kent's parents house for Linda's birthday celebration. Kent put in a phone line, what a handy man.

Today we had playgroup (from the neighborhood) again. We went to Wheeler Farm. The funnest part for Sawyer was playing in that little stream. I must say though, I'm a little grossed out by all the running around in bare feet on the grass that is riddled with goose pooh. They will be getting showers tonight, not baths.

Tomorrow is supposed to be super warm again. I was going to go to Thanksgiving Point and do photos of all the kids. You may notice Hayden got left out of these ones. He was at home sleeping :) while Kent did some work around the house.

Some old pics

Well, I have nothing new that is interesting to post. I've been trying to wait for a little something, but been sorely disappointed. So, I'm going to share some pictures of us lovely people visiting the land of our ancestors in Europe. It's been 4 years, so we all looks so young and spry. My, have we aged?

So, Heather and I had the chance to go see little Camden (sp?) tonight. He looks so cute and looks ready to go home. He just needs to learn how to eat and remember breathing and he's good to go! Hopefully that will be pretty soon. Darren and Jenny will be great parents! We also snuck into their new house and it's quite the beauty! It'll be sure nice for them to move in soon.

Nothing much is happening with us. The flying spider infestation seems to be over and hopefully that will never happen again. I'm on my last rotation of medical school and it's in neurology at Primary Children's. Pretty fun way to end, hopefully. Plenty of down time...i mean study time.

As I'm writing this I'm just watching the Jazz shoot very poorly. Apparently they want to play again here in SLC. Oh well. They probably get paid the more games they play.

hasta,

Shelley

Hallelujah

Woohoo! It was finally spring/summer yesterday. I brought out my camera to mess around with some of the finer settings and here are a few of the samples. McKinley went to one of her good friends birthday parties yesterday and I shopped for Kent's birthday which is tomorrow. Kent also got a racing game that he tried out yesterday. Good times. This is just to show all of you that blogging doesn't have to contain anything of great interest :)

G'day

Hello. It is going to be a great weekend...I don't have to work. Of course today I did spend the day in my PALS course at the hospital getting a headache. Nothing a few Ibuprofen couldn't fix though. So here's what we've been up to this week:
  • Ballet recital on Tuesday (also our anniversary) and my car battery died.

  • Take your daughter to work day at Kent's work on Thursday. It was at the Tracy Aviary, and yes, that is the same day it snowed.

  • Somebody is having a baby tonight (not me).

  • Tomorrow is art class again, and baby animal birthday on the Farm.

  • Sunday is FHE--don't forget.

Here are the pics of the week.

Weekend update

What a nice, but windy, weekend. Kent was able to take Friday off so we did some work around the house. Not much fun for the kids, but necessary. Saturday was McKinley's art class that she loves. It's down at Thanksgiving Point so I took the boys to see the animals again. Next Saturday is the baby animal birthday party down there, so you'll probably see more Animal Farm pictures (we're getting our money's worth out of our family pass!). Just a reminder FHE is on Sunday at our house. We hope the weather man is right and it will be near 70 so we can be outside a little that day. See ya then.

Mmmm chocolate!

Today Sawyer had a birthday party to attend at McDonalds. So while he was off playing, Hayden got to eat some yummy chocolate chip cookies to keep him happy and occupied. As you can see from the before and after pictures, he really enjoyed it.

Our last standing bunny died today. Poor little Maggie. Now we are done with bunnies and will take a little break before the next animal.

Also, Hayden did his first big boy crawl today (meaning not just army crawl). I tried to catch it on video, but as always the kid got a little camera shy.
